so, i was looking thru plushie dreadfuls and i had some issues with the npd bunny. out of spite, i decided to design my own npd bunny!
symbolism: - crown to represent desire for superiority and praise - mask to represent false ego and, well, masking - mask is cracked to represent the false ego breaking, aka crashing, also represents that masking is very tiring - primarily green color palette to represent envy - large heart on the center to represent large ego and big emotions - gem motif to represent brilliance, uniqueness, and beauty - frills to spice things up, appear fancier, and make it more unique - green arrows pointing up towards the face to represent drawing attention to self
i wanted to represent npd in a more beautiful and less stigmatizing way. i hope you like it!

IAN GALLAGHER + his journey with bipolar disorder
╰┈➤ “At times, being bipolar can be an all-consuming challenge, requiring a lot of stamina and even more courage, so if you’re living with this illness and functioning at all, it’s something to be proud of, not ashamed of." - Carrie Fisher
#happy world bipolar day to all my bp babies#(more thoughts at the end of the tags)#shameless#shamelessnet#shamelessedit#ian gallagher#cameron monaghan#*macygifs#bipolar disorder#hello pals how are we doin#i made this gif set in july of 2023 and never posted it because 1) i was terrified to share it and potentially see Bad Takes in the tags#and 2) because my hyperfixation was waning. and while both of those things are still mostly true (the fixation comes and goes)#i feel like it's really important to share as ian's bipolar storyline was not only so vital to his character it was a bit of representation#that isn't often given to the disorder and those (like myself) who live with it every single day#world bipolar day is a day where we can both celebrate ourselves and our resilience and also raise awareness of the reality of the disorder#which is both terrifying and beautiful at its core. this disease is not a death sentence or a sentence to an unfulfilled and miserable life#while there are challenges galore when it comes to balancing life with this disorder it IS possible to live a full and productive life#and i think it's really important to have representation of that in media - and while shameless dropped the ball on a LOT of storylines#over the years THIS is the one they really fucking nailed and i am incredibly grateful#i first started watching shameless while in the midst of a major depressive episode and i was later (finally) diagnosed during an extended#hypo/manic episode - this show and ian's storyline got me through so much and made me feel so seen and validated in my struggles#world bipolar day is also vincent van gogh's birthday (happy birthday buddy) who was posthumously diagnosed with bipolar disorder#and who experienced both depressive and hypo/manic episodes during his lifetime (and was regularly institutionalized)#it takes a lot of help and support to keep us going. it takes the support of our family and friends and *most* of all#it takes patience and kindness and understanding - which is so so so easy to give if you are willing to love and listen#so please. be willing. listen to our stories. be patient with us. show us love without conditions. support us in any way you can.#we are worth it#i promise#anyway. that's really all i wanted to say. happy world bipolar day to those who celebrate (me) and may all of us living with this disorder#go on to live happy fulfilling beautiful magical lives

this comic is mostly about mental disorders. i used my changeling sona for this one since i felt the metaphor to be quite apt.
the panel with the muffin represents a person headcanon of mine that reformed changelings will often eat food that is "made with love" to sate themselves

maybe i'm swinging a bat at a hornet's nest here but as an aroace person, i think it's kind of messed up to say that levi is canonically aroace now
yes, he said that he doesn't care about people and that concepts like empathy, compassion, and love are unfamiliar to him. but attraction is not the same as any of those words. i get that people may want to headcanon him as aroace (especially since we don't get a whole lot of representation in the first place), but to insist that it's canon feeds into stereotypes about people with low empathy and aroace people alike

it's hardly an original opinion but i do genuinely think that Barclay's existence in tng (at least in his first appearance) is good and very needed for the show. like after Roddenberry insisted that all the main tng characters should be perfect people who are always moral and great at their jobs and get along really well with each other, it's needed to have a black sheep who's not a bad person but isn't great at his job, has social difficulties, lives too much in fantasy, and develops bad coping mechanisms. it's also good for these supposedly perfect people to have to learn how to deal with someone who has deep flaws. (also showing Geordi being a supportive boss & friend even to someone he doesn't really like is a very good part to his character.)
however all of that goes out the window once Barclay becomes another one of Star Trek's most special white men who needs whole episodes dedicated to him in a show that is in no way about him when the actual main characters are completely ignored.

TBH the best way to flesh out a character (which works for me) is to put them in two interview settings. One where they have to tell the truth no matter what and one where they can say whatever they're comfortable with. One will show their depth and the other will show how they want to be perceived
EDIT: OMG YALL TY FOR BLOWING THIS UP???? Here's a template for this idea with 3 interview settings!
